K-Electric Customers Are Facing Rising Electricity Bills

K-Electric customers are facing rising electricity bills due to increased monthly adjustment charges. The total adjusted cost stood at Rs 4.33 per unit, an increase of Rs 1.59 from October to September. In September, K-Electric customers were charged Rs 2.74 per unit in monthly and quarterly adjustments, but the continued price hike means they will pay Rs 4.91 per unit by November.

Additionally, KE consumers are projected to encounter further increases, with charges rising by Rs 2.59 per unit in May and Rs 3.17 in June. Moreover, quarterly adjustments from September to November 2024 are expected to add Rs 1.74 per unit to bills. Although the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has yet to approve KE’s proposed adjustments for July and August 2024, KE has recommended a Rs 3.09 per unit increase for July and an extra 51 paisa for August. These adjustments, once approved, will contribute to further electricity bill increases for KE consumers.
